The signs of changing appear at Americans too, which will start to replace V8 engines with a very big cylinder with small engines but more efficacy.
In Europe, the American cars look like from another space… with V8
engines and more than 6 liters they are called “small block”, the cars
are just seen with astonishment on the old continent. Especially that
American V8 gives a lot of power which an european engine will give it
with a 2 small engine. And for sure, the consumption of one American car
it’s one that scares one european. But the Americans don’t care. Until
now. In times when the price of oil sets new records, the Americans
become more sensitive with the charges. So the producers begin to
accommodate.
Ford announced they will introduce a new technology, Ecoboost, which allows to keep the level of power in very good conditions, and meawhile they will abate the cylindrical capacity of engines and even the numbers
of cylinders. The prescription is… european, If I can say it.
Practically, the solution is the the change on direct injection and the use of
turbo compressors.
Ford says the first engine from Ecoboost series will eb installed on
Lincoln MKS. It’s about the remission of V8 instead of V6 with 2
turbocompressors which will give 340HP from a 3,5 liters cylinder.
The American constructor announced the Ecoboost technology allows the remission of gasoline with 20 up to 30 percents. Moreover, EcoBoost, installed with 4 or 6 cylinders will come on bigger models like SUV or
berlines, estimating until 2013 on the streets will be half of million
Fords with this technology. The number isn’t so big, but considering the
sels of Ford in Canada and USA, the constructor explore the market and
the reaction of clients on this solution, much cheap, but which
attends a little on the tradition.
