Based on a common platform with Land Rover Freelander and Ford Kuga, small brother of the XC90 stake on the style and on the equipment of safety deserving of the Swedish brand, to clear itself a road on the segment of the SUV premium.
The Small brother
The hour is for the regression for 4×4. Volvo and the others (BMW, Mercedes and Audi) understood it well because all or almost develop “junior” models from their big person(main part) SUV. So, after the XC90, the Scandinavian brand proposes the XC60, more compact and thus more accessible. But conceived in the same vein. We find a line everything in movement, dynamic and thoroughbred, even more meaning than that of the older brother. As for the inside, it makes naturally the beautiful part for the design, the speciality of the Scandinavian countries where it makes good to meet itself in its cozy nest during the dark, icy and endless winters.
Safety and power
Other priority expensive to Volvo, the safety. The XC60 benefits in series from City Safety, a device which slows down automatically the vehicle when the computer detects a too weak distance with the car which precedes it. Of what to avoid the shocks in the urban traffic. Under its hood, the XC60 welcomes a Diesel D5 of 163 or 185 hp. A bigger version T6 of 285 hp will be also available for the most demanding. Most Greens, them, will have to wait 2009 to offer itself a Diesel model simple drive which will throw back “only” 170 g / km of CO2.
